Exciting News! Drop Off Your Laptops at Noel Leeming St Lukes 🚀💻
Good news, whānau! Donating your laptop to Recycle A Device (RAD) just got easier. You can now drop off your old but usable laptops at Noel Leeming St Lukes, making it simple to support digital equity while also doing your part for the environment. 🌏
Every donated laptop goes through a secure and efficient refurbishment process—wiped of all personal data, repaired by trained RAD refurbishers, and then gifted to a rangatahi who needs it for school, work, or building their digital skills. With just a small action, you can change the trajectory of someone’s future. 🙌
👉 Important Note: This drop-off option is currently only suitable for donations of less than 10 laptops. If you have a larger batch to donate, please get in touch with our team to arrange a pick-up or bulk drop-off option!
How to Donate: It’s as Easy as 1, 2, 3!
1️⃣ Check eligibility – Visit our webpage to see if your laptop meets donation requirements. We accept most laptops under 8 years old, as long as they have a charger and no visible damage.
2️⃣ Fill out the donation form – This helps us track and refurbish your device quickly. You’ll receive a unique donation code to bring with you.
3️⃣ Drop it off in-store – Bring your laptop, charger, and donation code to Noel Leeming St Lukes and hand it over at the designated RAD collection point. Done and dusted! 🎉
Why Your Laptop Donation Matters
The digital divide is growing — right now, over one million people in Aotearoa face challenges accessing digital tools. Many don’t have a device, lack reliable internet, or simply need more confidence in using technology. Without these essentials, students struggle to complete schoolwork, job seekers miss out on employment opportunities, and families are cut off from full participation in the online world.
RAD is tackling this head-on. In 2024 alone, 2,920 laptops were repaired and gifted by our incredible network of school and community-based refurbishing clubs. These clubs, led by passionate rangatahi, don’t just fix laptops—they build digital skills, foster problem-solving abilities, and empower the next generation of tech innovators. Your laptop donation could be the missing link that helps a young person write their first CV, complete a university application, or discover a passion for coding. 💡
More Than Just a Drop-Off: A Sustainability Win ♻️
Technology waste is one of the fastest-growing environmental challenges, but RAD is flipping the script. Instead of ending up in a landfill, your donated laptop will be refurbished, reused, and given a second life, reducing the need for new tech production and lowering electronic waste.
In 2024 alone, RAD:
✅ Diverted 5.8 tonnes of e-waste from landfill, giving old tech a meaningful second life.
✅ Prevented 129 tonnes of CO2e emissions, reducing the environmental footprint of electronic waste.
✅ Worked with hundreds of rangatahi across Aotearoa, teaching them hands-on skills in tech repair and digital literacy.
And here’s the best part — Noel Leeming St Lukes Megastore is also home to a TechCollect NZ collection point, meaning you can drop off other e-waste (like old phones, cables, or tablets) at the same time. A win for the planet and for digital equity! 🌱💻
