Differentiation

Let ākonga choose what three countries they want their cyclists to represent and research which colours to paint the sprite for each.

Extension

Challenge learners to add complexity to their program, such as:

  • Feature more than three cyclists!

  • Program a curvy race track!

  • Program a single cyclist with more than one speed setting!

About Activity

This programming activity guides learners to create a cycle race in ScratchJr in the spirit of the Olympic Games. Learners will add and customise sprites to represent different national teams and use size and speed blocks to arrange the race and determine a winner!

In a computerised context, learners will think computationally to devise a program and get creative to design for digital outcomes that connect with the Olympic Movement and its values!
